Co-operation of Farmers.
A MBXTINO of those interested in the formation of a Farmers’ Co-operative Atsooiation was h’ld at the Reg land Hotel last night, there being over thirty present. Mr P. E. Richardson was voted to the ohair. Mr Lewis made a short addres|, pointing out the advantages to ba gained by combination both to tha producer and the consumer. Mr Daßlaquire, who had speciafy cd'eotad information for the guidance of t(fi meeting, gave details se to how the system was worked in other places, and read a lettea,Jrom Mr Turnbull, of the Canterbury Assocation, who offered to give every assistance in hie power. After an interesting discussion it was agreed to form an Association, tho capita! of which should be £2OOO in 2000 shares of £1 each. A number of those present showed their sincerity in the undertakina by immediately signing for shares, nearly a mindred being at once taken up, and many promises of Increased support when thing* have assumed a more definite shape. Those who had signed remains! behind and had a general discussion as to the best mode of procedure, and it was arranged to hold a meeting nt Ormond on Thuriay. and Patutahi on Saturday. The movement gives every proubo of success, and good support is anticipated both in town and country.
