A very serious stabbing case occurred yesterday afternoon, near the gas works, some ilada were playing together and two, named Hutton and Blom, about 14 years old, quarrelled. Blom struck Hutton with his hand, and the latter struck him in return, with a stick, at the same time threatening he would strike Blom with a knife 11 as soon as look.” Subsequently the stick was taken from Hutton, and his antagonist believing the knife had been also taken away, laid hold of Hutton to strike him, Hutton thereupon stabbed Blom iu the stomach, about an inch below the navel. Blom was assisted home, exclaiming, " My belly is out open and my inside is coming out.” On examination by a doctor the wound was found to be threequarters of an inch long and several edges ot tba peritonium protracting. After the wound bad been dressed, the boy was removed to tbe hospital, where Captain Preece attended, and took Blom's deposition in tbe presence of ths boy Hutton, who had been arrested. This morning, Hutton was charged at the Magistrate’s Court with unlawfully wounding and was remanded till next Monday, Up to thia evening, though Blom still continues in a critical condition, tbe symptoms were not at a nature to lead to the anticipation of a fatal result, but still he feared that would be the case, The boy Hutton was crying bitterly when be was brought up this morning, and evidently was strongly impressed with the heinousness of tbe deed. He was employed at a chemist’s shop (Ecole's), while Blom has been a runner of the Daily Telegraph for four years. The affair created a great sensation here.
