The Rowing Season.
[to the editor.] Sir, —I am sure that all lovers of that deservedly popular and healthy exercise, rowing, will be pleased to notice the signs of new life exhibited by both of our local clubs, at their annual meetings just held ; and I sincerely hope the committees will keep things moving, and not allow the lethargic spirit which possessed them last season to again take hold of them. Although my remarks will apply to both clubs, they apply particularly to our leading (?) club, the G.R.C., which did not lead as it might have done i it is not necessary to refer to the onuses of last seasons failure, as they were apparent to those who chose to see. We are opening with a flourish of trumpets, and sixty members, and we mean to do great things this season; Wo are going to show Napier and the—.» Gently now | or We may And that the little club with its sixteen members is very nearly a match for our sixty when we come to assay the quality of the sixteen; who are most of them hard grafters. Now it strikes me that unless our push are prepared to do some graft, that our share of the cake will be Boys. Nuff sed, — Phii, Garlick.
