The Spirit Moveth.

[to the editor.]

Bn,—A great deal has been said about the white or black elephant that has for some time lain at the wharf, and a good deal of chaff has been indulged in at the expense of the Engineer in connection with the clumsy looking Structure, Home uncharitable people bare gons so far as to suggest that it should be brought in to be used as a fiagship when the Gisborne Yacht Club has its first regatta, But the Engineer bore all the borak very patiently, and now he has his triumph, for he has proved to the world—and Gisborne—that the sandpump was part of the original scheme, for it is now being utilised in a magnificent way, showing what a bead there must be under that famous potae. People who say that the training wall was not part of the original scheme have now conclusive evidence that it was, because the fact that the sandpump was reserved for the occasion is full proof,—l am, *c., The- B.E.
