Another Hospital Scandal

Napier, last night. At a meeting of the Hospital Board this afternoon, there was a very lengthy discussion respecting the case of the Chinaman Ah Yack, who was refused admission to the Hospital last Wednesday, and was found dead in hie whare at Hastings on Thursday. At the inquest on Friday a verdict was returned that death resulted from a tumor on the brain, death being accelerated by the journey back to Hastings, when refused admission to the Hospital, A rider was transmitted to the Hospital authorities, blaming tbe Hospital Secretary for refusing admission to Ah Yack, and calling the attention of tbe authorities to the Secretary’s conduct in the matter. ; It was resolved unanimously that in consequence of the remarks of the Press and the Coroner’s Jury, in reference to the death of Ah Yack, the Government be requested to hold a public enquiry into the matter.
