' A Magisterial enquiry was held on Saturday M Lyttelton into the oiroumitanof s of tbe eelllsion between the Union Go's, steamers Rotorua and Orowaiti on December 7, durina B fog, A considerable amount of evidence ns faksn, from whiph it appeared that tbe Roterna was trayslling at tbe rate of eleven kaosper hour just prior to tho collision, but bet whistle was being kept sounded every two •e three minutes. Only a few minutes passed frag ths timp the flrgt whistle soppded until 4hs gsessU wsrs into sseb other. . The sffissn and engineers -of ths Orowaiti Stated that their vestal had been stopped five a* ton minutes before the collision, on account of the thick fog, The whistle was kept •sanding every two minutes from when one MtLylielton Heeds until tho vessels collided. Judgment will be given to-morrow;
