HARBOR BOARD.
Ax ordinary meeting of the above was held on Tuesday evening. Present 1 The Chairman (Mr Bennett), and Messrs Chambers, Bievwright, Shelton, Arthur, DaLautour, Townley, and Dr Pollen. A communication was received from Mr Brown, Wellington agent of tbe Lewthwaite patent, again directing the attention of the Board to tbe patent. The Public Trustee wrotel forward herewith statements of accounts of the Sinking Fund and Loan accounts to 31st ult., and a statement of investments, duly certified by the Controller and Auditor General. I also forward a statement showing the amount of contribution due by tbe Board to ba £582, and I have to request you to forward me a cheque for this amount, together with one for the second instalment of refund of overdraft paid out of loan, under seotion 5 of the '• Gisborne Harbor Aot 1884 Amendment Act 1887,” £lOB3 8s 2d, or a total of £1645 8s 2d. After some discussion it was decided to reply acknowledging receipt of the letter, and stating that it would receive the Board’s consideration.
The Harbormaster made a general report. The Engineer reported The section of breakwater on hand will be finished in a few days; the total length will then be 1080 ft. About bait the cement has been landed from the L°ohnagar, and a quantity of totara for the training wall, from Napier, Tbe rails ordered from Government will be sent in a few days. Another long discussion took place in reference to tbe Tauwharepare block, and tbe following motion was carried To adopt report of committee on Tauwhareparae block, as altered, and after ths altered clauses shall have been settled by the committee, to instruct the secretary to print tbe conditions for circulation; have the sketch map lithographed if tho cost is reasonable and satisfactory to the chairman, and advertise the land for letting, tenders to bs in on May Ist; the secretary to confer with the committee as to particulars; advertisements to be inserted in u a newspaper in each of the cities of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin.
