Tux above body met yesterday afternoon. Present: The Chairman (Cr Clark), and Crs Coleman, Tuohy King, McPhail, Murphy, Orr, and Stubbs. Accounts were passed as follows: —G. Moore £5 4s, B. Tbe standing orders were suspended to hear a petition from a large number of settlers in the Waikohu Riding and Ormond Road District, praying that the Council would defer raising the loan of £4,500 for the Kaitcratahi Bridge, until the ratepayers roll had been revised.

Cr King opposed the recention ot the petition.—Cr Tuohy said the Council had used every legal precaution before raising the loan.—Cr King then moved to the effect that the decision of the poll ba accepted as final, and that the petition be not received.—Cr Orr seconded the proposition.—Mr Chambers, one of the petitioners, said there were many persons on tbe roll wha had no right to vote, while many larger properties were not represented.—Cr Coleman opposed granting the prayer of the petition. Cr King’s motion was then amended to read that the petition be not granted, which was put to the meeting and carried. It was decided to spend £35 on the Tatapouri road.
