AUCKLAND. Last night. The direct steamer lainui has gone South, after taking in 4000 carcases of frozen mutton aud a quantity of gum and fruit. The carters have carried their point, and two guineas per week having been conceded, the strike has ended. The steamer Waitoa was out down to the water's edge by a collision with one of the ferry boats in the hatbor. The German warship Alexandrine docks here, and after having a week's spelt goes back to Samoa.
