An Ideal Public Man.
(TO THE EDITOR.] Bib, —I have carefully perused your report of Mr Gannon’s meeting of creditors, and if your report ie correct—of which I am assured—l must say that I am astonished to find any business man in Gisborne, knowing anything about Mr Gannon, who can find one single redeeming feature in his conduct to his creditors. It it possible that we are to have him held up as a pattern public man ?—a man of public spirit ? Is there any single act that can be pointed out for which he deserves credit in the face of the enormous amount of money be owes to the tradespeople in Gisborne ? Have we retrograded so much in public affairs as to have hie conduct held up to the mirror for public approbation ? Have we come to that that we must accept Mr Gannon as a mode! public man ?—for that is what some of his particular friends seemed to consider by what they said at the meeting.—l am, dso,, Citizen.
