The Hospital.

[to thb editob. | Sib, —I understand that a change is shortly to be made in the Hospital management, and I think the sooner it is done the better, or people are not likely to long put up with the treatment I received. My wife is lying in the Hospital dangerously ill, and I have obtained for her a private ward at a cost of £2 per week. Bnt lam sorry to say even that does not appear to secure civility. I live twelve miles out in the country, and ride, in each day to see my wife. It is almost impossible for me to judge my time erectly by the provisions made in regard to the other wards, put I have not only been refused admission, but refused in such a way as I could net pnt up with from anyone else but a woman. The matron’s language to me was far from ladylike and her tones and the bitterness which she manages to convey are most cruel, to say nothing of the indignity. My wife’s mother, who has come all the way from Canterbury, has also been refused admission to see her sick daughter. I think that these matters ought to be referred to in the interest of the public. With the exception of the matron I feel deeply grateful for the treatment accorded by all the others connected with the Hospital. Dr Pollen h<s acted to me as a gentleman and the nurses have been most kind and considerate, and while commenting upon the indignities I have received I regard with a thankful spirit the kindness of the Doctor and the nurses at the Hospital.—l am, etc., D.
