Matters Political.
THE COMING SESSION-A CIVIL , SERVICE BILL. [special to the standard.] Wellington, last night. The approach of the date for the next sitting of Parliament is causing a renewal of interest in politics. The Premier has not definitely fixed the first Tuesday of tbe session for the delivery of the Financial Statement, but he will unfold his Budget immediately after the Address in Reply has been dealt with. Among the measures to be introduced will be a Civil Service Bill, dealing with the reclassification of certain Departments which particularly need it. A CABINET MEETING-THE NATIVE COMMISSION. Auckland, last night. The Auckland Herald's correspondent wires from Wellington Ministers sat in Cabinet to-day. 1 I believe it was resolved to lower the scale of fees in the Commissioners* Court—or I should say, more corectly, to modify the scale which had already been suggested. I learn from a good source, that although some of the Court charges may be assimilated to those of the Native Laud Court, this cannot be done in a great many cases, which will require the testimony of highly skilled witnesses. The Commissioners’ Court will havs soma intricate questions to deal with, which only legal ability of the first ordsr can oops with. If decisions of Commissioners are to have the highest authority they must be based on data collected from the most reliable sources. I understand that the whole subject hss been remitted to Mr Justice Edwards, with suggestions from the Native Department and tbe Solioitor-Gensral.
MB W. L BEES AND AN AUCKLAND ELEOTOBATB. Auckland, last night. It is generally accepted here that Mr W. L. Bscs will stand for Auckland city al the nut election. His prospects ars axcsUsnt. Mt Withy, member tor Newton, ptoputt to address his constituents on ths Mth fail.
