NAPIER PARK R.C. WINTER MEETING. The following nomina : ions have been received for tbs steeplechase and hurdle race to be run at the above winter mealing, to be held on the 25th June, 1890 : — Napier Steeplechase Handicap—Sir Garnet, Chester, Mangaohane, Darnley, Newmarket, Orient, The Drover, Auckland, Oddfellow, Kangaroo, Gladius, Jenny, and Oao. Handicap Hurdle Race—Sir Garnet, Raven, Ruapehu, Mangaobane, Argo, Leonardo, The Spy, Darnley, Orient, Hukatere, Oddfellow, The Drover, Kangaroo, Zareba, Penguin, Gladius, Taurekaitai, Rollcall, Jenny, Chester, and Bit cf Blue.
VICTORIA RACING CLUB’S MEETING. The above racing club’s meeting took place on Queen’s Birthday, at Flemington. The principal events resulted as follows :— Royal Handicap—The Admiral 1, Prattler 2, Jean 3. Won by a length and a half. Time, Im 17i«. Steeplechase—Studley 1, Goal Post 2, Curiosity 3. Studley won easily. Time, 5m 25J’. SYDNEY TURF CLUB’S MEETING. The above club’s meeting opened with fine weather. The following are the results of the principal events : — The Royal Stakes—Little Lady 1, Gresford 2, Nonsense 3. Twenty others ran. A grand finish took place. Little Lady only winning by a neck. Time, Im 18s. The Auckland mare Antelope was never prominent at any part of the race. The Steeplechase—Grafton 1, Marmion 2, Kulkyne 3. Won easily. Time, 7m 275.
HAWKE’S BAY STEEPLECHASE MEETING. Napier, last night. The following weights have been declared f>r the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s Steeple chase Meeting :— Steeplechase—Mang&ohane 12.3, Oddfellow 11.10, Uranus and Kangaroo 11.4, Sir Garnet 10.7, Orient 10.5, Waterfall 10 3, Auckland, Jenny, and Darnley 10.2, DrnverlO.O, Parnell 9.11, Gladius, Doctor, and Takapau 9.8, Roil Call, Chester, and Newmarket 9.7. Handicap Hurdles — Oddfellow 11.13, Uranus 11.10, Waterfall and Jenny 10.8, Sir Garnet and Raven 10.0, Pencuin 9.7, Newmarket 9.6, Argo and Princess 9 5, The Joker, Blue Mountain, Roll Cull, Sparrow, and Hawk 9.0.
A London cablegram states:—The following are the latest quotations on the Derby, to bo run at Epson on Wednesday next: —2 to 1 against Surefoot, and 11 to 2 Sainfoin. [Sainfoin, who has been introduced into the betting, is a chestnut colt by Springfield from Srnda, and is owned by Mr J. Porter, the wellknown Kingsclere trainer.—Phaeton.] Mr H. Milner has sustained a serious loss, his filly, Riviera, while exercising, fell and broke her back and had to be destroyed. Riviera was a daughter of Isonomy and Marguerite, and last season proved herself one of the smartest two-year-olds, winning ten out of i-he thirteen engagements which she fulfilled.
