Tutchen and the Observer.
AN APOLOGY TENDERED. THE AUCKLAND JOURNAL MISLED. [special to the standard.] Auckland, last night. The following advertisement appeared in to day’s N.Z. Herald:— ‘■IS MARRIAGE A FAILURE?” MR JOSIAH TUTCHEN’S EXPERIENCE. ’JHF following will appear in the Observer of sth July : — “ In our issue of last week wo made some remarks on the marriage question, and. to illustrate our point referred to the marital experience of Mr Josiah Tutehen, of Gisborne. Writing from the information then before us we employed strong language regarding Mr Tutehen’s conduct. We have since learned that our information waa in some respects erroneous, and the full facts show that Mr Tutehen, in his treatment of his wife, has done nothing to merit the harsh terms employed towards him. After conversation we have formed the opinion th*t ho is a man of deep conscientious conviction, earnestness, and kindness of heart, and we have to express our regret that we should have injured hie feelings by our unjust judgment."
