The following is the Turanganui team which will play the second Pirates in Napier on August 2nd Full Back : C. Priestley. Three-quarters : Mitchell, Matthews, and Bums. Halves: H. Maude and A. Wade. Forwards: Hepburn, Loomb, Crawford, Skipworth, Marshall, Robinson, Featon. Nisbett, and Sherriff. Emergencies:—DeOosta and Fairlie. Tho Napier team propose to play Gisborne on August Ist, so that some new arrangement will have to be made to prevent the two matches clashing. The big match takes place in Gisborne and the club match in Napier, i On Saturday there was a football match between ths probable representatives against Napier and another team chosen by the selection committee. The game was a very poor one. Fisher and Marshall were absent from the representatives’ side, and the possibles bad to play without the services of Rua, Riki, Dods, Smith and others who had heen pinked, substitutes being ne:essary. Want of space prevents a criticism of the match for this isssue. The probables won rather easily, the possibles falling away altogether towards tho end. The fine forward play of Loomb and Hepburn, for the possibles. was the feature of the game, while Langford, Nisbett, and Allen played a good forward game for the fifteen. Harry Maude played a slashing game all through for the probables. O. Lewis played well for the probables in the first spell, but his condition did not last. Skeet came out capitally, but one or two misses soon proved his want of practice. The last number of the Auckland Observer has the following paragraph :—“ Fisher, formerly of Auckland, is now admitted to be Gisborne’s crack footballer. The honor of being ' cracked ’ footballer is said to be between several unsophis'icated youths.”
