TABANAKI GAINS ANOTHER VICTORY OVER HAWKE’S BAY. [special to the standard.] Napier, last night. This afternoon the long looks 1 for match between fifteens representing Taranaki and Hawke’s Bay came off. The victory of the Taranaki men over the natives had caused a renewal of confidence in the former, the opinion of their quality having gone down a good deal since their severe defeat in Auckland and their practical defeat in Gisborne. The Hawke's Bay fif een was reckoned the best that bad ever been got together in the district, and locally odds were much in their favor. The match created great interest here, and there were about two thousand people present. They had a rattling game to witness, the result of the match being that Taranaki wan by two points to nil. Tbe visitors were superior in the passing tactics, and appeared to have bet'er combination than was ths case with the local men. DISQUALIFICATION OF FOOTBALLERS. Wellington, last night.
