At the Police Court yesterday morning Karauria Takina was charged with stealing a sack of potatoes valued at 7s, the property of Karaitiana te Eke- Frooi the evidence of informant it appeared that Karauria acted as agent for him, and sold the potatoes, hut spent the money. Mr Booth dismissed the information.

An ordinary meeting of the County Council was held yesterday afternoon. Present: Crs Clark (chairman), Wethered, Coleman, King, Tuohv, Orr. and Murphy. An amount of general business was transacted. The annual Borough election passed off very quietly on Thursday, the interest increasing towards thefinish. Messrs Lewis. Joyce, and Taylor were elected, Mr Lucas being beaten for third place by on’y two votes. The result was awaited with much interest, and when the poll was declared there was a eheer raised. The three successful candidates briefly returned thanks, and the crowd soon after dispersed.
