Rowing News.

The season will open shortly, and it is confidently anticipated will be the best one yet held. The annual general meeting of the Gisborne Rowing Ciub was held on Tuesday evening, Mr Bourn, the Captain, occupying the chair. The report and balance sheet, presented by Mr Miller, showed a very satisfactory condition of things. The recent carnival netted £34 7s, and the credit balance was £4O 8? 24, with liabilities nil, assets to the value of £225 8? 21. The expenditure during the year was £l2l 7s 3d. Many new members were elected, including the Rev. Canon Fox as an honorary member? The following officers were elected : President, Captain Winter; Vice-President, Mr Dougherty; Captain, Mr Bourn ; Treasurer, Mr Miller ; Secretary, Mr Colebourne ; Committee—Messrs Green, Spurdle, Lunn, Haughey, and McLean ; auditor, Mr Johnstone.

The cups won at the recent carnival were presented. It was resolved to form a gvmnasium under the auspices of the Ciub, the Rev, Canon Fox hiving expressed his willingness co permit the use of ihe apparatus in the possession of the Union Club.
