Mr Gannon, by advertisement in yesterday morning's Hawke's Bay Herald, announced himself as a candidate for the Napier el ctorata. The Herald ridiculed tlie candidature and characterised it as presumptuous. The News, which represents the Labor side, said that the announcement came to it as a great surprise, as it was olearly understood that no action would be taken until after a meeting of the Liberals’ Association this evening.
