As he wanted fn procure one of these birds to take home, he walked beck, and accosting the hawker, said, “ What do ynu want for the parrot,?” “Five notes,” wss the reply. “Cafi he talk?” asked tha member for Hokitika, '-’Talk!” elaculated th®, hawker, with evident scorn, •• If he ean’t talk better than Grimmond or Fish* I’ll wring his blooming sack.”
