AUCKLAND. Last night. The Hou. Mr Mitchelson returns hare on Saturday, and remains till after the election. Mr A. W. Rees, previously admitted as a solicitor, kas passed his barrister’s examination. There was a trade procession here yesterday, in which 300 took part, although the demonstration is postponed to Prince of Wales’ Birthday. John Hynes, an invalid staying at the Britomart Hotel, shot himself today, but is likely to recover. He has no friends in the colony, and has lately been at Rotorua. He says he had been contemplating the act for some time. Charles Chapman was committed for trial to day on a charge of unlawfully wounding Robert Davies with a knife during the recent affray in the neighborhood of Hellaby’s, in Shortland street. In an address delivered by Mr Roes he commended 00 operation, condemned strikes as a barbarous means of attaining results, and said the foresight of the leaders of tho recent strike did not equal the devotion of the followers.
