The approach of the Hospital sports U causing a renewal of interest in nedeitrianism. It ie expected there will be a great number of new competitors in tho field this year, and the publication of the programme is befog awaited with some degree of expectancy, each youth wishing to be satisfied as to what it may be moat to his advantage to compete in. The threemile event ie likely to seouro a large number of entries. At Sydney, on Sept. 18th, R. B. Lusk won the place kicking competition, sending tho leather G3yds, and George Lu.k the dropkicking event, with a kick of 60yd. Ir. Bob Lusk, having 22yd., ran second to W. G. Cole, who started scratch, in the 120yda Hurdles. Time, 20ieo. Hempton did not run at the Hawke's Bay Rugby Union sports, but was starter, and signalised his first attempt in thia line by pntti’ig back six men in one race, and in. anotlur put one competitor back three iimu,
