SPORTING.

The Waerenga-a-hika Jockey Club’s Boxing Day meeting was held at the course on Friday last, and was in every way successful. The ride cut from town was far from pleasant, clouds of dust sweeping along the road, making people feel anything but in a happy mood. There was a large attendance, a great proportion being Maoris. The Secretary, Mr J. A. Harding, spared himself no trouble to make things work smoothly, and certainly deserves tie thanks of the sporting fraternity.
