The Dunedin Murder.
[special to the standard.] Dcnedin, yesterday. The approaches to the Supreme Court were crowded' to-day, when'the charges of murder came on against Sabah Jane and Anna Flanagan: In opening the case Mr Martin detailed the circumstances briefly, as follows The daughter Anna was delivered of a child, which was put out to nurse | Mrs Flanagan, lu wrath, said she felt
inclined io murder it. On the fifth January prisoner went to the nurse's house, and the baby was taken away. Next day the head of the child was discovered, terribly mutilated, in an unoccupied house, and the body could not be found. A quantity of clothing found proves to have been taken away with the baby. A day or two later Mrs Flanagan called on the nurse, and told her some men had assaulted her daughter and had taken away the child and out. off its head ; the police were making enquiries. She also said the face was battered out of recognition, the body never would be found. After this the daughter left for Wellington, where she was arrested.
