Sib, —’’True Sport’s” indignation at the impudence of the Toroa Club In holding its annual race meeting savors -much of that hypocrisy which cannot be disguised, So far -from the meeting det racing from true sport, it is just the reverse. The time-of the meet ing is most opportune, giving a good day’s enjoyment at a period when there is no overplus of race meetings. It is in reality jipttfefeijid of meeting that should be specially encouraged ip the district, It Is often complained that the ordinary meetings do not help the breeding of a suitable class of horses for the district, but a cross-oguntry meeting like the Toroa can have nothing of the kind said against it, as only good upstanding horses have a chance in crosscountry work. Every year the Toroa has provided a capital day's sport, and this year is not likely to be an exception, as your correspondent will’ find if be accords the meeting the great honor of the presence of such a person as himself.—l am, etc., Qboss-qovntby,
