The Wesleyan Conference.
Auckland, March 13. At the Wesleyan Conference tc-day the opinion of Sir Frederick Whitaker was read that the extension of the Ministerial term cf residence on circuit from three to five years would be ultra vires, though he admitted there might be sufficient reason to act on the resolution if the General Conference granted permission for such a s’ep, and especially as he did not see thst any mischief or inconvenience would arise if that were done. Eventually it was resolved to bring permissive legislation into operation as soon as that Could be legally done.
