A Singular Case.
MB WALSH ROBBED—HE SUES THE LANDLORD.
(SPECIAL TO THB STANDARD )
Napier, last night.
A case of a peculiar character is set down for Thursday next, at the It M. Court. Mr William C. Walsh, the well known dairyman of Poverty B iy, arrived here 1 ist w.«. k, and put up at the Masenic Hotel. He took a bedroom and hoarded there, and oneeveni ij? he discovered that s >meb<»dy in the hot-1 bad robbed him of £l5. He could not lay his hands on the thief, and he did not suspect anybody, but he alleges that the money is gone. The police were com muni cated with, and Mr Wilsh wrote to Mr Cresswell, solicitor, informing him of the loss. Mr Cress well decided to proceed against Mr Smith, proprietor of the hotel, the money having been lost in his house. The summons has been issued, and the cas** will be heard on Thursday. It seems absurd, it is remarked here, if the landlord is liable for money lost in his house in such a fashion, and the result of the case will be awaited with much interest.
