[Saturday's Hawks s Bay Hkbald] Thi above club held a gathering at Farndon Pink yesterday, and as the weathur was favorable for outdoor amußnmentt' is wai not surprising to fi id a good attendance of local sportsmen, and a number of visitors who had arrived tn take part in the racing carnival, Mr J, P. Smith had provided a good supply of strong bird*, and some good shooting was done bv «he various competitors, Mr Whittle, of Christchurch, kiting no fe*er than 22 birds out of 25 shots. In the T«ial Handicap he tied with Mr Fargusson, who killed his 9 birds, and tt was decided to divide the s’akee, The big event of the meeting, the Open Handicap, was won by Mr Sanders, who shot 7 birds consecutively, Messrs Whittle and Smith dividing second honors. The Consolation Handicap was appropriated by Mr Fawkner with 6 birds, Messrs Mania and Clark being a tie for see.nd place with 5 birds each, Captain Winter, who acted as referee in the absence of Mr Danvers, proved the right man in the right place, for his decisions gave general eatisfaotioo.
