In order to hasten the opening of the school, and to secure this ad ya need medical education for women at ths earliest possible date, it was proposed to rfine a sum of 100,000 dollars, and as much more a* pos-ible, to be offered to the Tiuscees for ■he use of tne Medical School, on condition that women whose previous training han been equivalent io hat of the preliminary medical course of the University be admitted to the sch >ol whenever it shall be open on the same terms as men, i'his was quickly raised, and accepted by the trustees, Michael Eyraud, the strangler, whose head was cut off in Paris, had his life insured for 10,000, dollars, but the companies refuse to pay, on the strength of a clause in every policy relieving the company*ot liability if the insured meets his death while violating the laws of tne country.
