Everything points to the Winter Meeting of the Wellington Racing Olub to morrow, being one of the most successful ever held, For the double, Hurdles and Steeple, 50 to 8 and 4 are the best offers, Pyramns, Oak - lands, and Theorem being the selections for the small sticks, coupled with AhuaSentinel, and Taurekaitai for the Steeple chase, A fire occurred in a horst box attached to the Manawatu train whteh arrived late at Wellington last night The bo* contained the mare Lucy Glitters, which was going to Wellington to take part In the steeplechase meeting, The mare was so badly burned that she had to be destroyed. She was owned by Mr Fitzherbert of Palmerston North, Dangerous, who was in the same box as Lucy Glitters, was only slightly injured, but has been scratched for to-morrow's engagements. Ahua, the favorite for the steeplechase, arrived this morning, and is looking well. Rose Bonheur will be scratched for the High Weight Welter.
