[SFECIAL TO THE STANDARD.] Melbourne, July 10. Tradion has been heavily supported for the Grand National Hurdle Race. Commencing at 100 to 8 he travelled rapidly to the head of the quotations, and is now difficult to obtain at 100 to 14 about him. Ixion and Busaco are also well supported, the former at 100 to 12, and the latter at 100 to 10. Frolic and Priscilla are also quoted at 100 to 10. The following scratchings have been posted :—Hurdles —Nooroo, Donald, Cuttlefish, Boswell, Satyr, Elpie, and Iris. Steeplechase—Thelma, Nooroo, Duval, Dorinda, Bonny, and Little Arthur. Wellington, last nigh*. Everything points to the Winter Meeting of the Wellington Racing Olub to morrow, being one of the most successful ever held, For the double, Hurdles and Steeple, 50 to 8 and 4 are the best offers, Pyramns, Oak - lands, and Theorem being the selections for the small sticks, coupled with AhuaSentinel, and Taurekaitai for the Steeple chase, A fire occurred in a horst box attached to the Manawatu train whteh arrived late at Wellington last night The bo* contained the mare Lucy Glitters, which was going to Wellington to take part In the steeplechase meeting, The mare was so badly burned that she had to be destroyed. She was owned by Mr Fitzherbert of Palmerston North, Dangerous, who was in the same box as Lucy Glitters, was only slightly injured, but has been scratched for to-morrow's engagements. Ahua, the favorite for the steeplechase, arrived this morning, and is looking well. Rose Bonheur will be scratched for the High Weight Welter.
