EDUCATION BOARD.
[special to thb standard.] Napier, last night. At a meeting of tbe Education Board yesterday, in reference to a letter from the Gisborne Committee, asking that tha school be painted, and the site fenced, the Secretary was directed to obtain an estimate of painting. The fencing was authorised. With respect to extending Miss Evans' leave of absence, it was decided that the regulations of the Board be adhered to. It was decided to give Mr Morgan £8 per month tor house allowance while the master’s residence is in the hands of the contractors. Mrs Farmer, Oxmond, wrote complaining that her child had been wrongfully punished. It was decided not to interfere in the matter. It transpired during the discussion that the master of the school was acting as secretary to the committee. The Board expressed the opinion that it was very inadvisable that a master should hold such a position. It was decided that in toture the Board would only supply the appliances required by Order in-Council. It the committees wanted other things they must supply them out ol their allowances,
