ROWING.
Ths forthcoming rowing season promises to be the most successful yst held in Gisborne. The following crews have been selected by the Gieoorne Club for their champion four-oared race, to be rowed about October 20.0 Simms stroke, T, Adair, E. Matthews, P. Matthews O. Bandlant stroke, Nisbstt, Haugbey, Wilkinson Greens stroke, E, Sarffilant, T, Morrison, H. Evans Hennessy stroke, R. Robinson, <J. Lewie, Hope F, Clayton stroke, F. Muir, J, Somers, Ambridge E, J Chriep stroke, Cosgrave, L, Bees, A. L. Muir Lunn stroke, W. Parker, W. Ohrisp, G. Bull —One mile is the distance of the race. The above crews go into training at cnee. After the ordinary trial fours have boen decided three fresh crews selected from the men who have bean defeated row the crew that won in the first heit. Should the latter be defeated fresh crews are again chosen from the other defeated ere vs, and ths same system is continued until ths best crew are proved, they then holding the honor of being champions for the aeacon, This system is an innovation in Gisborne, and has tfie merit of giving every individual a fair chance to work his way into the final and championship crew,
