A bush worker named McLaod was badly injured on Thursday by a tree falling on his chest while he was falling bush at Panikau, Yesterday Mr Donald McKenzie conveyed the unfortunate man into town from Pakarae in a vehicle, and the sufferer s now at the Hospital. A carter named Charles J. Burston was found dead in a stable at Brighton, Victoria, recently. He had been drinking till midnight, and is supposed to have returned to the stable to feed a horse, but that he lay down and fell asleep, and during the night the horse had laid on him and crushed him to death, the apuearanoe of the body justifying that conclusion. A smash-up of a light vehicle occurred last evening, about 5.30. Mr G. Watson and a friend were going out for a drive, whan the horse shied, and shot under the verandah of Mr Townley’s shop, where the trap oaps'zed, the occupants having a very narrow escape. The vehicle was generally knocked about, the parts coming asunder. Mr Coleman's buggy horse took fright at the other runaway, but was stopped by Mr Fraser. On Thursday afternoon the 12-montb old child of Mr A. W. Harris, Whataupoko, was drowned by falling into a boiler containing water. The other children had been left in charge, but went to play, and on the mother returning ten minutes or ao later from attending to her work, the baby was not with the other children, and she found it lying face downwards in a six-gallon boiler in the bathroom. Restoratives were used, but the baby was quite dead. An inquest was held before Mr Lucas, and a verdict of accidental death returned.

W. H. Tooker v. M. D. Spriggs, olaim £lO ; Mr Dav for plaintiff, and Mr Chrisp for defendant; judgment for £lO if house ia not given up within a fortnight. The dispute was over a sledge house whioh was on property leased by Mr Adair to Mr Scriggs ; the latter objno'ed to removing the house bank to the seoHon on whioh it h*d been n'aoed, W. Daly v, J, Adams, claim £3 10s; Mr Ohriep appeared for defendant; judgment for defendant with Costs 10s fid. Judgment summons—W. Adair y. M. Hail, claim £6 Ils; Mr Ohrisp for plaintiff; the defendant was ordered to pay the amount forthwith, or in default one month’s ire. prisonment.
