([special to ths: standahd.] Napixk, Wednesday night In the Divorce Court yesterday before the Chief Justice, the decree nisi in Stark v. Stark and another was made absolute. Today the like judgment was given in Lafolly v. Lafolly. A man named Sydney Morrison, convicted lest March of larceny as a bailee, and sentenced to two years’ probation, was brought before the Chief Justice to-day, charged with failing to provide the instalments due of the costs which he was ordered to pay, and of otherwise infringing the conditions imposed upon him. His Honor said he did not think probation was any use to the prisoner, and sentenced him to one month’s imprisonment with hard labor. The Musaiader of the ci Sting to day was occupied with the libel action, Dr Rudolph Von Murbach against ths Waipawa Mail proprietors, claiming £lOOO damages, for libel in an article in which ths Mail referred to the evils arising from a certain class of medicine practitioners—the plaintiff's contention being that though he was not mentinned, the article wae airaoted against him. The esse is likely to last two mors days.

The Diocesan Synod session commenced on Monday, when the Bishop delivered a lengthy address, but only some formal business was transacted. Yesterday a committee was appointed to report upon the means which are being adopted in the Diocese for imparting religious instruction to the young, and it was decided that in future no charge be made for marriage by banns.
