TRAVEL WITHIN THE EMPIRE
LORD CRAIGAVON’S PLEA London, March 16. Lord Craigavou, upon arrival in London from New Zealand, said he was greatly interested to learn of the lit. Hon. Stanley Baldwin’s proposal for closer trade relations within the Empire. Such a policy would be acclaimed in New Zealand, which was second only to Ulster in its loyalty and imperialistic aims. He would like to see an effort made to promote travel within the Empire on British ships. Our people had unfortunately drifted into the Continental hobday habit neglecting the Empire’s own wonderlands. If those who desired to winter abroad could be induced to go to the antipodes, they would not only be trading within the Empire but acquiring most valuable first hand knowledge of their kith and kin overseas and strengthen the friendships on which the Empire is built.
