FOR PERPETUAL MOTION

TARANAKI IRONSAND WANTED. PHILOSOPHER OF EKET AHUNA. Somewhere in the depths of Eketahuna there is a man studying the ancient problem of perpetual motion. At present he is making cement balls for his experiments and, wishing to make them weighty, he wrote to the Taranaki .Chamber of Commerce last week asking for a sample of ironsand. If the experiments are successful he expects to require tons and tons of ironsand. Meantime, he indicated, a small Oatina bagful would ne sufficient Mr J. A. R. McGregor undertook to forward him the sample.

“I am just asking if you would do me a favour,” write the investigator, “and that is to send me a small tin or small Oatina or salt hag of your Taranaki famous ironsand, or drop me a line advising whom to write to for the same.

“I will pay you for doing it, and if it is suitable I will probably want two or three hundredweight of ironsand. Could you give me a quotation or thereabouts for 3cwt. sent to me by rail? “I have been working at automatic motion and want to make cement balls with the ironsand. to get a weighty ball. If my idea is any good I would require tons and tons of iron balls. I would like to get an average sample of ironsand that is procurable in large quantities.. “If the 3cwt does not exceed £1 you could put it on the rail for me straight away and not bother with the sample load.” — “Taranaki News.”
