POINT-TO-POINT STEEPLES. NEXT SATURDAY’S MEET. The H.B. Hunt Club’s annual point-to-point steeplechase meeting will be held next Saturday, July 28, on the properties of Messrs Oswald Nelson and O. E. Israelson, Mangapapa, Mangateretere. The day’s programme has been drawn up and differs slightly from the last two or three years, an additional event, a hunters’ trial (for men) having been included. There are five events to be decided during the afternoon—Light-weight Steeplechase. Hunters’ Trial (men), Heavy weight Steeplechase, Hunters’ Trial (ladies), Open l’oint-to-Point Steeplechase. Very handsome trophies are to bo awarded to the placed horses in each event, and no doubt there will be very keen competition. These meetings are noted for the fine sporting spirit prevailing, and each vear sees large attendances of the public, who thoroughly enjoy the afternoon’s outing. It is safe Jo say that with fine weather Saturday next will see a record gathering at Mangateretere. Entries for all events close with the secretary, Mr. H. S. Moss, Box 13. Hastings, on Wednesday next, July 23, at 9 p.m. The first event of the day is timed to start at 1.30 p.m.
