CANTERBURY MARKETS. Christchurch, Oct. 3. So far as business on the local grain and produce market is concerned, it is almost at a standstill except for potatoes, in which there is still a little doing. There has been a slightly better enquiry for potatoes this week, -and the price has improved a little. To-day’s quotations are: £3 12/6 to £3 15/- f.o.b. 5.1., equal to £2 15/- to £3 on trucks. For the next two boats to Auckland there is a fair enquiry. There is evry little doing in small seeds, and no change in prices. There was another drop of 10/- a ton in the price of bran and pollard yesterday in sympathy with the further drop in prices in Australia. To-dav’s prices are: Bran (local) £6, shipping £5 10/- f.0.b., with 10/extra for smaller packings. Pollard (local) £6 5/-, shipping £5 5/- f.0.b., with 10/- extra for smaller packings.
