The sifting of the Assessment Court at Reeftcm, for the purpose of dealing with o'l objections against the County valuation, will be held at the Court House, on the sth March. Kegarding the collection o( rates there has been each year gome doubt as to what was the exact character of the demand required by the Act. This doubt has been set at rest by '■' The Fating Act 187G Amendment," clause 12, which says : — " It eluill be sufficient i§ any demand required to be rnide under section 48 of 'The Rating Act, 1876/ be made by the same being sent through any post office, addressed to the person liable at his known jJace of abode or place of business,
