♦ — ' (FfiOM OTJfi OWN CoEKESPONDENT ) An inqnest was held upou the body of Edward Green, who was found in the Buller river last week near the Junction. The Coroner (Mr Keyell) accompanied by Inspector Feast, came from Westport on the following day. and the Inspector con* ducted a strict inquiry into the matter, but as the deceased had been drinking rather heavily before his death, and there being no suspicion of foul play, a verdict of found drowned was brought in— there being no evidence to chow how deceased got into the river. The Prospectors (Right- mile) cleaned up last week with a result of between two and three hundred ounces of gold giving an average yield of about four ounces to the ton, The Little Wonder battery is now crushing for the Hoefer claim. Several other claims have small parcels of stone ready for crushing. The Alpine Company are now in full swing. They have about fvrenfy hancU employed at the current rate of wages, viz., £3 10s. Mr Thompson, Buller County Overseer, is exploring for the purpose of getting a suitable route for a track from Lyell 10 New Creek. A rather distinguished member of the Buller County Council condescend* ingly visited this long neglected portion of the Counfy wishing to see the dis« trict which is rather mountainous. The latter and his belter half have returned home armed wim a six-shooter each — both are practising the noble art of frequently firing of their shooting«irone, aid they promise to make a decided impression upon Mr Stewart should he as;;iin put iv au appearance at their homestead.
