[BT ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.] [PBB PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, March 6. A man named Henry Ashton attempted suicide by jumping off the wharf this morning, and was rescued with difficulty and locked up. A sharp shock of earthquake was felt at Dunedin and Oamaru this morning. At tbe Rifle Camp Okey of Taranaki won the Champion Rifle Belt, with a score of 279 points ; Purnell of Wanganui, 272 ; Rogers, Blenheim. 267. The Carbine Champion Belt was won by Thomas, 268 ; Somerville, Wanganui, 263 ; Wimset, Nelson, 262.
