The Australian and New Zealand (January) mail via Suez was delivered to-day. Consols 97|. The Bank rate remains unchanged. The Bank of England weekly returns s^ow the total reserve in notes and bul. l.on £16,625,000. Adelaide wheat, flour, and Australian tallow remaia unchanged. was firm and the bidding very active. St; PetessbiTbo, March 4. Moodeskey. the Nihilist, who was arrested in connection with the recent attempt on the life of General Melikoff, has been tried and found guilty of the offence and sentenced to death, and wil! be hanged immediately. The propaganda has been issued expressing regret at tbe failure of the recent explosion atlthe Winter Palace and stating that further attempts on the life of the Czar will be made unless he abdicate, or grants the reforms in the constitution demanded by the Nihilists. MELBOTTBIfTE, 5. The new Ministry was sworn in to« day. The Hon. W. J. Claries has resolved to sell his stnd of horses and retire from the turf. March 6. The last days races of the Autumn Meeting took place to-day. There was better attendance than either of tbe previous days. The Newmarket Handicap was won by Aspen, witb Japan second, and His Lordship tbird ; it was a close finish. Columbus won the Town Plate. The racing throughout the daj was very good. Adelaide. New Zealand oats are selling at 2s 6d.
