ST. PATRICK'S DAY.
♦_ (to thb editoe Inangahita Times.) Sib, — I noticed some time since in your columns that ifc was likely an attempt would be made to get up one or two days atblectie sports in Reefton for
the holidays cow cl«s_i at band, but I bave looked in vain for any further notice of the movement. Can it be that tbe sporting spirit is on the decline in Reefton ? It is impossible to account for the apathy otherwise. A community that can "ante-up" £70 odd in a few hours as a " testimonial " to a departing banker, could never be short of the funds necessary to raise a day or two's sports. There is going io be a days' racing at Cronadun, but everybody can'tgo there, so something should be done to get up amusement near home. Why not in the absence of anything more legitimate get up a monster picnic in one of the paddocks near the town. A few pounds might by that means be raised for the Hospital, Fire Brigade, or some other object. I hope at all events that the occasion wi'l not be allowed to pass without some amusement beiDg pro--1 vided. 1 I am, yours, &c, i G KEEN- £ WABD. Reefton, 6th March. 1880. I wmmmmmmmmmm*— irnmmm
