THE NEW ELECTORAL LAW.

_> Under Tne Qualification of Electors Act, 1879 every man of the age of 21 years and upwards, who is possessed in bis own right of a freehold property within any electoral district, is entitled to be registered as a voter, provided he has held sucb property for at least six months before the remstra'ion of his vote. Every man of 21 years or upwards, who bas resided 12 months in the Colony, and six months in the district in whicb he claims to vote is entitled to be registered as an elector. Aliens Jand persons convicted of treason, felony or any infamous offence are disqualified. Registration may be made all the year round, and the day of registration ia the day upon which the name of a claimant is placed upon tbe roll. Holders of miners' rights may vote upon their existing qualification during the year 1880, after which such qualification will become invalid. Tbe duty of making the rolls as complete as possible falls on the registrars, who are told by section 6 of The Registration of Electors Act, thafc ' It shall be the duty of every registrar to make the rolls as complete as possible, and with tbat obj ct from time to time to place thereon, or add thereto, the name of every person of wbose qualification as an elector be is satisfied ; and it shall further be his duty to assare himself of the right of every man to have his name retained on tbe roll.' The required vojing papers are to be furnished by the Registrar.
