This was an information charging tbe defendant with uttering certain false, slanderous' and defamatory statements of and concerning the informant, Mr Cown appeared for tbe informant and Mr Lynch for the defence. Mr Lynch took a preliminary objection to tbe <orm of the information, contending that it did not disclose an indictable offence. He held that a criminal infors mation would not lie un'ess tbe words were written. His Worship he'd the objection to be fatal, and dismissed the information. New Independent Company v. This was an action calling on the defendant to show cause why he did not satisfy a judgment of the Court for £24. Plaintiff proved that defendant was District Judge at Taranalci, and in receipt of a salary of £66 per month, An order was made for tb« payment of the claim in instalments of £10 per month —in default, too months imprisonment. Forsvth and Masters v. Bowe, claim for £17 10s, on a dishonored promissory note, and £8 8s for interest, making together £25 18*, of which £5 had been paid "reducing the claim to £20 18s, for which judgment was given.' M'Kenna (Rate Collector) v. Abcheb. Claim for £8 5* for rates. Tbe defendant disputed the correctness of the clnim, and upon it being shown (hit he was under a misapprehension, withdrew the objection, and consented to judgment for tbe amount claimed, with costs. MrLynpb appeared for the plaintiff. Same v. M'Connon, claim for £4 10s for rates. Judgment confessed, with costs, Mr Lynch appeared for tbe plaic* tiff.
