It may possibly appear that a deal of valuable time is being lost by the pro* ' moters in launching the Tunnel Com* pany, but much at all events of the delay hag been beyond the power of tbe Committee to avert, Tbe aegoti-, ationa with the Government relative to securing the services of one of their engineers to tufee the levels of the iunnel occupied some time, and since that officers arrival the weather has been such that 00 field work could be parried oa. We may hope, however, that tbe initiatory woik will be pushed ahead vigorously during the coming tveefe, for it should not be forgotten that Parliament will meet next Friday, and it is impossible ta say what reversals the future may bring forth.
