Replying to Mr Murray, Mr Hall
said the Report of the Life Assurance Department would not be laid on tbe tahle before the end of August or beginning of September. Replying to Mr Murray, Mr Oli«er said that he expected to make bis Publio Works Statement some day next week. Replying to Mr Stewart, as to whether the attention of the Government had been directed to the circumstances undei which Mr Parnell, a barrister cf the Supreme Court, had been recently or dered by the Resident Magistrate at AsbbUTS ton to be committed for seven dsy9 for alleged con'empt, and whether it is tbe intention of the Government to t;.ke any action in the matter, Mr Rolles'on said that Mr Purnell called uoon him and made a verbal complaint. He informed bim that if he would make his com* plaint in writ'ng a copy would be furp nished to the alleged offender, and »f f '*f his explanation had been receiyed the Government would consider what act ioa should be taken.
