trials should command attention, but nevertheless, some forfeited shares, submitted by Mr Brennan on Saturday for publio competition, realised a mere nominal sum ; but this is no criterion as to the real value of shares, as en< forced sales inrariably tend to diminish the spirit of speculation for a time, be the stock ever so firm previously, and in these cases the fortunate purchaser frequently finds that he has made a good bargain out of a haphazard bid.
