THE VICTORIA COMPANY.
' [to the editor inangahcta times] Sib,— -I see that exertions are being \ made to remore the affairs of the above companj from compulsory I'quidation by the Court, and I should be prepared to endorse the promoters of that coarse ex* cept that I think the shareholders should i hear all about the way in which the company's lease and mine came to be sold, There is some doubt as to the legality ol that sale, and under compulsory liquids* • tion this matter would be rentilated. If that sale was illegal, as is generally believed, the prospects of eontributories 1 would he greatly improved, so that I 1 do not see how the interests of shareholders can be so much benefited by the proposed private settlement. The shareholders should certainly find out whether that sale was legal or not. If it was good in law, then well and good ; and if it was illegal, it should be upset by liquidation* I am, &c. f SHAREHOLDER. Eeefton, March 24th, 1881.
