INKERMAN.
' A parcel of shares, forfeited fornon« payment of calls, was submitted to public competition by Mr Bowman this morning, and lots were knocked down at t'gUsfactorly prices. . However, un« desirable it may sometimes appear to submit shares to this process, as the whole interest of the company thereby is temporal ily affected, yet it becomes an act of necessityinow and again to purge the register of dilatory shareholders, who do not accept their respon sibilities during any temporary adversity, . but who are. generally the foremost in attempting to establish their lost title as soon as the wheel of fortune turns to* wards prosperity. The operations of several ventures in this field are retarded or altogether neglected for this very reason, and it is to be hoped that a sound position will be attained by this and other similarly situated companies, so that operations may again be resumed and their value ascertained.
